Why Friend of a Friend?

I have a lot of creative friends. They make music, they make art, make beautiful lives. On this podcast we’ll hear about how and why they make what they do, and sometimes we will hear their music. I’m especially interested in how the process of creation helps people to make sense of their lives. After years of being asked “What is this for?” about my own hobbies, let’s say: it’s for this.

I’m an ethnomusicologist, a music producer and writer-editor. I used to make radio shows for the CBC. I play piano, concertina, a few other things, and I’ve sung professionally in choirs and small ensembles.
